my brother is not so dumb after all!! i'm just kidding. he's a brain. one giant, huge, walking brain. my brother is ensci. and whenever you ask him about whether he likes what he's doing, or whether he's thinking about law school or graduate school or just working to get a PEO designation, he kind of shrugs and says he doesn't know or that he hates engineering and instead makes lists of albums to get, names i didn't even know existed. he has a taste in music i didn't even know he had until we went record shopping together once at these ultra-hip places, and the shopkeepers were complimenting him on his eclectic taste, while i was holding (and then hiding) britney spear's latest album. and he's such a goof! he even does things like make fake CDHQ identities to get the 12 for one penny CD offers...(Young, Jeanie, Ray, Jason, etc etc). and he recently bought a lavender barbie electric guitar and plays these spanish songs that his mentor and guru, "slav" taught him during the summer. and he wears geeky shirts that say things like "the ghost of gauss" or "physics bowl 1999". but despite his geeky demeanor, my brother reminds me of something my friend isabella said to me once. She said that the quietest, smallest dogs have the hardest bite. my brother is like that, i think. like, one day, he came home with the governor general's medal for academics. just like that. and he doesn't even display it, it's sitting under this huge cup he got from famous players while seeing the star trek movie, and it has a replica of worf's head, where the straw comes out. he has this record of quiet, under-the-table, high achievement. extremely modest, almost to a fault, almost to tragedy. anyway, his latest coup d'etat...after telling us all that his interviews for the PEY year went horribly ("IBM asked me all these questions and I said I don't know to all of them"), he got offered a job for the year at IBM and at this microelectronic/circuit company called Snowbush. He's taking the job at Snowbush, which was started by two U of T engineering profs. And the best part is, they have two offices - one in Toronto, and one in California. GO TO CALIFORNIA!!!! GO TO CALIFORNIA!!!!! GET YOUR ASS TO CALIFORNIA!!!!(not so subtle a message, huh?)

it was my mom's birthday last week, and they made a cake. and they froze half of it for me, so that i could take it, but i didn't take it, cause my bag was so heavy. i didn't think i would want it. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! why! WHY! WHY! WHY DIDN'T I TAKE THE CAKE!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!

i will now go and cry myself to sleep for want of cake.
