AHHHH!! the weekend is over!!!!!! our little trinity club finally made it (after like, several reschedulings and fights and cat fights and crying and pounding the floor shouting "why! why! why!") to the royal york for high tea yesterday for kk's birthday...as dependable and as predictable as this weather (which i will get to later. bastard.), trinitrons all ended up wearing one piece of black (serena-reese witherspoon ALL black, save for her scarf) at least, and pointy shoes (thus leading peunice to take a tumble down the stairs after the exhiliarating tea experience) with a sharp sharp heel. except kk, who dared to venture beyond black and wore shades of brown and camel. and then there was me, the freak, who brought ONLY pairs of jeans to toronto (i don't know what i was thinking) and subsequently bought this iridescent light blue skirt and wore it for some freakish reason, on a background of all-black...so if i did up my coat, i looked decent. upon opening my coat, i blind any innocent by-standers. ah! fashion faux pas!

anyway. who cares. you can really wear whatever you want to high tea, and not listen to the extravagant person who took our reservation and stated (i guess in a haughty voice) that women even wore long dresses to tea...i had visions of old marla trumps in chanel tweed suits with other old marla trumps in different colored chanel tweed suits...

the tea was nice! you have a nice selection of teas (like green tea with pear, i had maple tea, and there vanilla essence teas and traditional earl gray teas) and the first course (there are only really three courses, not TWENTY like someone said and i had hoped) was this berry cocktail. i guess like stewed berries that were cooled and there was a nice dollop of creme fraiche on top...and then this thing called a crumpet which is like an elite pancake covered with honey. you get one each, but you really want like 10. yum. then you get this three-tiered plate full of little sandwiches and pastries. upon first touch and feel you think the scones are dry, but once they're in your mouth, they melt!!! and there was this pastry swan, whose entire dorsal area was dug out, but replaced with berries and cream, and this chocolate square truffle thing i ate two of (piggy in me) and of course, the little sandwiches, which you must eat with constraint, but really, you'd like to have a huge basket of these little sandwiches in front of you and scoop them up by the handful and stuff them in your face. and there were macaroons and greave's jams and cold sweet fresh butter and strawberry tarts and smoked salmon thingy-do's...i wish the cafeteria in dental science had high tea.

ah.....back to london today. where i transform back into a MEC-esque hiker. it's snowing like crazy so i'm not exactly sure if greyhound is up and running and my dad is calling me asking me to call greyhound to ask just exactly how they thought buses were going to run without having had any snow removal and salt deposited on the long 401 stretch to london...and then calling again to ask whether it would be safer to take the train. i'm anticipating he'll call again, asking me to call viarail to ask just exactly how they thought trains were going to run with all that snow on the tracks and wouldn't it be safer to just take the bus.

anyway. must go. bye bye.
