Schmellypig chews the fat

a lot of people have been saying to me lately that they haven't seen me ever, or during lunch, and wonder where i go. i don't know! just lately, i guess, by way of explanation, i just have errands or things to finish. i usually end up gulping down lunch 10 minutes before the start of next class. i'm pretty excited about the upcoming two weeks, and a lot of my lunches for the past little while have been spent getting things together for events in March. it's impossible to plan efficiently or get anything done when your school day ends past 9pm on most days....well, monday is all-you-can-eat-sushi, and i think some or a lot of our class is going. yay! then, there's skit nite, which is basically the dental formal, except that each class puts on a skit, basically parodying or poking light fun at the faculty, or dentistry-related things. and then, i get to go to vancouver, for a few days only, for a dental conference. for free, compliments of the CDA and Dentsply (which i'm grateful for, cause i have zero money). so i've been running around rearranging my poster and getting things checked and booked and confirmed. i've never been to vancouver, and the last time i went anywhere exotic was a trip to paris with my class in grade 7 or 8, and really i didn't know anything about the innate wonderfulness of travelling to a distant place when i was that young, and even opted to go to EuroDisney which was TERRIBLE and even opted to eat at a french McDONALDS instead of a french restaurant in paris...so this is a real treat. it's kind of a geeky reason for going (presenting some dental research i did in the summer), but i'm excited nonetheless and glad for the reprieve from school.

i need to go to chapters and get some new fiction. i'm sitting here with all of these textbooks around me - cold, hard, feelingless textbooks (except Okeson's TMJ book, which I think, was written with a lot of love), filled with the abstract art and science of dentistry - and i need a bit of poetic loving, say, by william carlos williams or e.e. cummings. or evelyn waugh. or nigella lawson.

good night!
