song of the day: Dumb Girl, by Lucy Woodward.

Good song!!! i heard this song early or late one night, when i happened to turn on my alarm clock radio (i don't usually). this song is all about - well, there's a big "guy dumped me didn't see it coming" theme, but what resonates is that the chorus says that "something like this only happens to somebody else", and althought not true for most instances in my life, sometimes these unbelievable things do happen - bad or good, i guess, but mostly bad - and it seems like i'm only watching a mirror of myself go through these horrendous motions. kind of like when del jordan watches herself crying over the loss of that big dumb guy she was going out with, in alice munro's lives of girls and women. watching herself grow, or experience, like an outside observer. ready, i guess, to turn the moment of big crazy operatic-soap opera occurrence into art.

well, biophysics is the name of the game today.
