i went on a BAKING FRENZY last night!!!! I made this massive chocolate banana cake and these apple spice muffins (for my mom, so she can take one everyday to work for lunch). it was like past midnight when i was done. Kinda reminds me of the day I discovered Senses bakery on bloor, and since then, my life has never been the same. senses has big cakes and small little cakes and tarts and they will individually box each one in a beeeeoootiful box for you and give you forks (of course, for the ridiculous price of...well, lets just say that for the price of one slice of cake, you can have like, 5 taco bell meals)...reminds me of the day that i was with poohbearsong (aka grassy ass) and we went to senses and went to the reference library (which is like a block away from senses) just to eat at a table near a water fountain...or (alas) one time this summer when i skipped work to to go senses and then skipped down to the hospital where my "hunny of the moment" was working - and we had the best dessert ever in the most depressing cafeteria ever.
but this massive banana chocolate cake turned out really nicely. it was all fat and brown and it rose so beautifully that i almost cried. martha stewart would have been proud of me. even my brother liked it; he usually says anything i make is..."interesting", or "suspicious" or "okay". kinda reminded me of this time when i wanted to make this apple cake from a recipe book that rolo and grassy ass gave me for my birthday this summer, but after like HOURS of baking, it wouldn't turn into cake. it was like all gooey and the top was getting all burned and nothing was going on down below. after like 1.5 hours of baking that stupid thing i just wanted to give up and throw it out because it was so ugly and asymmetrical and i had to go to school to drill some teeth (and taking into account my tuition, each lecture costs me like a billion dollars). anyway, i was really a woman on the edge - unstable and irrational - ready to throw out cake! but porage told me i was crazy and so i kept baking that thing, jacked up the heat...and finally it baked, that stupid cake. turned out to be okay - and although i thought they were crazy and totally patronizing me, bighead and porage said that the burned, crispy top part tasted real good...(says something about their sense of taste????)
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahhhhhahahahaahahhahaaaaaahahahahhh!!!!!!
kinda reminds me of this time in grade 9, when we had to bake a cake for our homeform, for this cake contest at a big annual picnic we have at woburn at morningside park for minor niners. so...like me and 8 of my closest friends volunteered to bake this cake. and it was a really gross cake. like, it probably had all of our saliva particles in it (fingers in the icing) and lots of other things that really shouldn't be in cake, like eggshells, other interesting "foreign" objects, and hair, i think. so...9 girls in our homeform...didn't eat the cake on picnic day...
kinda reminds me of this day when me and lil held a surprise dinner party for jaime. we planned a menu...pillsbury crescent rolls, salad, this beef noodley casserole thing, and this AMAZING chocolate cake FROM SCRATCH...we cooked most of it at my place, but jaime lives at the end of my street, so for freshness, we wanted to transport our semi-cooked stuff and bake it at her place. which meant (no drivers between the two of us) we had to carry a TON of stuff through august heat down my street, which is really really really long. so we packed everything up, and we were fine half way there, but when we reached brian avenue, our arms were falling off and we had to rest at every tree shade and the bags were cutting through our fingers and cutting off circulation and it was just so ridiculous carrying pots and pans and bread and meat and sugar and pillsbury which started to expand due to the heat...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh! whenever lil or deb started laughing, i just couldn't look at either of them, cause i KNEW i would start explosive laughter too...it was like that all through high school, like in our english classes with mr. carper...
anyway, our dinner party was the cutest funniest thing ever. everyone got full of crescent rolls and salad, we couldn't touch the beef thing (which looked kind of gross and we just stuffed it into her fridge) but we had our amazing from scratch chocolate cake and ice cream...i found out several days later, and couldn't stop laughing with lil when i told her, that jaime told me that she had finished the gross-looking beef thingy we stuffed in her fridge, and she said she liked it. aaaaaaaaahahahaha! kinda reminds me of that time when jaime went to yucatan with our school and developed...FLEAS!!!! ah! so like jaime! anyway, jaime is in calgary (but right now she's in toronto with her bf danny and we'll go shopping tomorrow) and has been working for conoco, as like a rock and oil specialist or something.
ah shoot, what's the time....i must go okaythankyoubye.
