Schmellypig chews the fat

i had such a good day today...such a singing, swinging, cosmopolitan, blue skies kinda day, full of surprises and coincidences...never saw the sun shining so bright! never saw things going so right! la da da da da da.... ;p aaahahahhhhah!!!! it reminds me of a saturday morning back in first year undergrad, when me and my three other "k klub" musketeers walked west on Bloor, bought strawberries, did a bit of shopping in the cute little stores that line this anti-posh but super-cute part of bloor...and it was just the perfect day for walking, the perfect day to buy strawberries - some saturday in april.

i started my day with a workout at my local Y - and during those hours when i was pedalling away, pounding a treadmill (yes, literally, with my fists), a mysterious stranger i hadn't seen for like YEARS dropped off this box of super yummy yummy yummy cakes of all different shapes and tastes and sizes...(kinda reminds of the time i bought this sponge cake and took it home on the sheppard bus and met bryan ray on the bus..."ellen what's that" "um...a cake" "is that all for you?" "umm....yeah...") and that other time i was bringing cake to sunnybrook hospital for my birthday (i'm picky about cakes) and i was travelling on the lawrence 54 bus and i met jon hatt ("ellen what's in the box" "um....cake" "you're going to eat all of that by yourself, aren't you" "um...yeah") and that other time in OAC when me and jon went to work out at the Y, but then somehow i convinced him that it was a good idea to go to the Open Window Bakery (where present-day second cup is, for all those scarboro town centre aficionados) and buy a chocolate truffle cake, eat most of it, drive back to school, and hide it in a locker for future consumption...

anyway, it was John Camarda!!! incidentally, he was my high school prom date. he's a super nice guy, and i think he's teaching some mechanical engineering students how to do some mechanical stuff, and he's going skiing tomorrow. yay! he's italian, and got really mad at me once when i asked him if he was greek. so, he delivered cake today...what a sweetie.

anyway, these people are crazy. like, they build their own hot tubs for their parties up at mark's cottage, and steal signs from my ALMA MATER!!! (trinity) and post them on the route to mark's cottage. once, jon (he's in germany with mary, his gf, right now)
and mark mcdonald practically kidnapped me from my dorm room at st. hilda's...and jon boiled BEER in my KETTLE...you don't want to try that. (i still cringe at that memory). i wonder what kevin u's doing...those four - "team bulk"! ahahahahhhhahahahaaaa!!

anyway, that was neat. it's like my dream to get sporadic deliveries of amazing cake (it's like...that italian stuff wtih mascarpone in it....YUM!!! and that napoleon cake....YUM!!! and this chocolate thing with rasberry..um, i guess a coulis or something on it....YUM!!!! and this other cake with custard and lemon-y stuff in it....YUM!!!!). reminds me of this time when i was teaching drama with lil at arts adventure at macdonald c.i., and it was my birthday, which is in august, and i had NO IDEA but i thought i was being called into the gym to lead a game or something, and as soon as i walked into the gym, the whole camp, all these amazing little kids who manage to staple each other and can be manipulated with the promise of "gimp" - started singing to me, and lil brought me these individually wrapped, painfully beautiful slices of cake and ice cream...that was like the best birthday ever.

where was i. then i had lunch with ray, who told me about his engineering thesis that he's doing for his master's at the U of T...(argh i wish were back of UT for their gym facilities). it's like a subdivision of mechanical engineering and a subdivision of solid state something and a subdivision of linear finite analysis something and basically, what he'll be able to do at the end of the year is like integrate something or other and do that integration thing-y for things like spoons and union jack flags. him and his friends thought that humans had 38 teeth. ray says it was educational, but ray went on the "LOVE CRUISE" to thailand this summer...lots of pretty boys and girls....hmmm....time for me to acquire a husband....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaaaahahahhHH!!!!! okay whatever, i don't think so.

i proceeded to head downtown, and who should come up to me but another person i haven't seen or spoken to for at least 5 years...Megan McGill! weird. she's finishing up a degree in physics and math at guelph, and incidentally, sat on top of a fusion reactor at super-secret (maybe not so super secret now!) SNOW - that underground neutrino thing. and kate got signed by matt's record company, and erin b is at UWO too - doing teacher's college - although i spoke to her during the summer i haven't been able to get in touch with her lately. but at last remembrance, she's commuting from the farm where she lives with her new husband. and erin n - i have no idea. and cathy - astrophysics! after a stint in paleontology. i tell you - such interesting areas of study. anyway, so we chatted the way downtown, cause she was going to see the hermitage collection at the AGO. i headed to indigo and stole some of john raulston saul's ideas, claimed them for my very own, and headed to the duke to meet my undergrad microbio specialist kids for dinner.

i was always pretty afraid of sausage, just cause of the fat content and stories about how there were rat heads and butts in sausages, but clarence, who suffered through microbiology with me, way back when, got this amazing looking dish called "beggars mash or beans and mash" or something - but it was this amazing thing of mashed potatoes and gravy, with three perfectly browned sausages laid on top of the potatoes, and with a side of those beans that heinz makes (you know, beans and pork)...enough about the food! clarence is the only guy in a class of 40 girls (i know, i know, every guy's dream) at the U of A, in his speech pathology program. i think he's enjoying it. he says he feels pretty much accepted since they talk about hard nipples and other graceful girly stuff like that, in front of him...helen and malina are happily in research - there are stories here that i can't put down...sorry. vernon was missing! where were you vernon! vernon has the most outrageous hair i've ever seen. it's like...spiky and colorful sometimes. and he has "yes" cards of himself. i've seen them! they're in his wallet! which reminds me of the time, back in high school, when eldwin drew a "no" card of me....
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!!

i'm tired! time to sleep. zzzzz.....actually, i'm gonna have cake.
