i'm home! it was so weird - i took the red rocket home after i got to union station, and GUESS WHO I SAW ON THE SUBWAY...my friend LILLIAN! one of my closest friends from high school...one summer me and lil built this huge-ass model of Agincourt mall (complete with artwork on the floors and walls, an amazing water fountain with glue-gun water, a domed glass ceiling, a floating aboretum, a half-floating cafe with half-floating stairs leading up to it (with a bar painfully fashioned from bits of old leather and chicken wire - PAINFULLY!), an internet cafe...and we illicitly won (since i was technically over the age limit of 16 by like three days) and we beat out a bunch of 7-year olds for first prize who glued tofu buckets together and scrawled "agincurt" over the monstrosity...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahhhhhahahahahahah!!!!! her mom makes the best chicken pot pie i've EVER tasted - it makes me cry to think about it...i wasn't like microwave chicken pot with the thick salty crust....her mom's crust was so light, so crispy, so airy, and SWEET and the filling was just the right gooiness...every time i went over there for dinner they'd eat, her mom would pile up my plate, and leave me in the kitchen to finish eating while the rest of the family did whatever they had to do...and lil would come check on me once in a while "how ya doing, El" "mmmmmmmmmmmffmfmfmm" "okay see ya"
anyway, so on the train home, i saw a lot of people i haven't seen in a long time - so coincidental! - which leads me to believe that this is going to be a really good holiday. it's an omen! my whole family, except me, is sick - they have some diarrheaic thing, maybe norwalk virus - and everyone we know has it too - so i'm going to exit the house now. reduce exposure.
ACK! exciting news - my friend ash is getting married on July 26, 2003 - at our old college church. Trinity. it's a beautiful church - it's stark, but white, and it's exactly where i want to marry...and her reception will be in Seeley - which is upstairs in Trinity College - also a beautiful, old space. i think when i was in first year, we practiced our "solid gold" dance routines for the Saints Ball coffeehouse in seeley. her fiance is adam - they met while doing masters courses at the U of T. Their how they met story is, to me, kind of magical. it reminds of me Dr. O's story, if anyone knows that. aaaaanyway, so far the bridesmaid dresses are going to be empire waist navy blue, long and flowy...our group's e-mail correspondence thus far, or at least, the gist of it:
"i need to order dresses. give me your dress sizes."
"size 4"
"4"
"size 4"
"size 4"
"damn you tiny size fours!"
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahhaahahahhahahahahahhha! time for christmas shopping.
