i just had the best night of sleep EVER. it feels like exams are over, despite the one we have to write on monday. i wish today i could pack up, catch a train, and go home to toronto...just in time for a saturday night in or out. i think if i had to go grocery shopping to that loblaws at masonville, buy so much stuff that i needed to take an aboutown cab home, and knew that i had a 3-hour anatomy dissection on monday and a three-hour wax up to do in the afternoon, followed by a tuesday night drilling session and another long drilling session on thursday, i'd just about go crazy...leading me to believe that - routine is EVIL! you need routine - it's like the basic structure of a clinical exam, but variation upon the routine is so much more fulfilling. isn't spontaneity a wonderful thing? i have many many many more inclinations to just do what i feel like doing - or just to do what i normally wouldn't do - lately. nothing catastrophic will happen, i promise, if you just take that chance and do the crazier thing. you'll feel maybe a greater gamut of emotions - a greater intensity of embarrassment, most likely, but the passage of time works in our favor. and it makes a great memory. i think so many random chances and potential possibilities are passed at us - and in the majority of cases, we instantly refute them in favor of pride or complacency or rationality. perhaps part of the fun is to actively turn the random into the...circumstantial and substantial.
today, incidentally, is the perfect day for pumpkin ice cream from covent market gardens....
