how do you make a sad girl happy? TAKE HER SHOPPING!!!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!

i just had a *very* satisfying shopping spree...i could just die now, although, then...i wouldn't be able to wear my new items of purchase. i went with my mother. and shopping trips with my mother always start out *so* annoying, cause my mom is kinda slow and likes to wear outrageous things...like today, she wore this leather coat with a *HUGE* fur collar trim thing, and seriously, place her in the middle of a forest, and it's buffalo season. (oh wait, it gets better - then she put on this fur purple hat...it looked like fur that was electrocuted and then she shook her head from side to side really hard and said "look el!" and i swear, she looked like a crazy woman!). but actually, this horrendous coat doesn't place her in the loser bin at holt's (she might even be fashionable there), where, the ugliest jackets (like this weirdo carpet-y kinda concoction with all bright colors and kinda knitted and half like matted and oily and green and orange and red but made by missoni) are not $399 (like my mom thought initially - and i thought too much for such an ugly poo jacket) but almost 4 g's....

i can make you a really ugly jacket for free. all you have to do is ask!

anyway, me and my mom are both getting old and our bodies slowly breaking down and falling apart and limbs everywhere oh gosh! what a mess, so we don't have the inclination anymore to trudge through crowds and throngs and masses of people at the Eaton Centre, and go through bargain tables at reputable places like, oh, i don't know, sirens and le chateau and the biway (as is our yearly wont), but this year, we did the Bloor St. thing, and divided our time evenly between holts (4 hours!) and banana republic (10 minutes)....that's right, only two stores. i couldn't even stand the gap on bloor, cause it was...crowded.

money is a funny thing. like today, on the way home, this boy, probably a little younger than me but taller than me, very well-dressed (i'm not overstating - leather jacket, nice khaki's, sweater etc etc etc) asked me for change and taking into account his whole countenance and his apparent non-needy look - he was actually distracted, nonchalantly - i kindly told that i was sorry, i couldn't spare any change. and then, he called me a fucking bitch, told me not to give him any crap like that, and then walked away. and approached another guy.

hmmmm. i'm always shocked when i get accosted like this! which of course, doesn't happen often. so unprepared! his words were so natural to him - and quite unnatural to me, that it took me a little bit - a second or two more - to actually digest what he was saying. i was quite at a loss! i was left feeling more victimized than he who might be more of a victim - maybe he left home? maybe he lost his wallet? maybe i've been in london too long. i know people, who frequent downtown toronto, meet people - whether in sincere need or not - who ask for change. and they can be rude and obscene. or not. but when something like this happens to me - when someone shows such an illogical or such an obscene kind of anger toward me - it really troubles me, i feel displaced...and my resolve to be more forward, or more courageous...a little too late. it's like...oh that was the moment! and that moment has already passed, and every has said their two cents worth and i haven't...i'm not quite sure what i should have done there.

mmmmmmmm. happy boxing day.
