Schmellypig chews the fat

despite my private resolution to do some work this week (my spring break, mind you), i haven't done any - haven't opened a book, haven't read any articles, haven't even talked gingivitis or height of contour - and i'm sufficiently happy about that. i don't have the inclination to do any work until the next week (why start in the middle of the week? that's too off-balance. might as well start on a monday), but i'm going back to london tomorrow to try to get back into a more regular cycle of waking and sleeping.

today i woke up at 8 to take the freaking bus at 9 to get downtown by 10 to meet gen-vee-ev - for some major eye-shadow shopping. yay! i tell you, this girl is CRAZY. by the end of our 5 hours of trekking all over queen street (well, it was really two major stops, 2/5 woman apothecary and 2/5 mac and 1/5 eating - more on that later) i swear she had tried on a gabillion different shades (mermaid green, rocker red, metallic greys and blues, different colors on different eyes), each time rubbing it off with some kleenex or remover, such that by the end of our eyeshadow spree, she feared that she had broken through some skin on the outer edges of her eyes, revealing some opthalmic veins. she wondered and wondered whether they would go away, but we quickly forgot about her vein-bursting eyelids because all i could think about was food (g: "do my eyes look red?" e: "i feel like a hot dog!" g: "do you think these veins will go away?" e: "from a vendor with lots of toppings!"). our original intention, after spending copious dollars on pots of probably-carcinogenic-colors (FD&C blue, propylene-whatever-it-is blah blah blah), was to grab a 3 buck hot dog from one of those amazing vendors with a gabillion toppings...mmmmm, sweet corn with sauerkraut...my favorite....but we saw this new creperie across from much and we were tempted to try it...the first temptation...but we stuck to our hot dog resolve. but upon passing the queen mother cafe, which tries to be cute but has carpet that is much to ugly to be entirely cute, we saw that the lunch special was shrimp and scallop risotto (which was YELLOW and had the most unique taste!) and basically said the heck with it to carcinogenic hot dogs (yummy!) and plunked our derrieres down while genevieve proceeded to show me the contents of her entire purse (aaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha her purse was deceivingly thin, but she pulled a mary poppins and brought out lipstick, eyeshadows, pencils, giraffe-and-squirrel-hair brushes, noel, a plant, a volkswagon beetle...).

anyway, my dreams of crispy beef in spicy honey garlic orange sauce materialized tonight and now i have tasted everything i've ever wanted to taste here in toronto and can happily go back to londonpoo. my friends are pretty educated and our banter can be witty and sarcastic and peppered with references to the inferno and the bible (i'm kidding) but tonite it was all clothes and gossip and make-up talk and eunice repeatedly chanting "i'm SO hungry. i want my food NOW" - until our crispy beef came, LAST of all the dishes we ordered. and so now, since there's bits of flying beef in my hair, i'm gonna go and shower.
