aaaaah. working at home today. i sit here and complain, i kinda whiled away the daylight hours (seriously, i could have gone out and done something totally fun and i'd still be at the same progress rate that i am now), and now that it's evening, i'm getting down to business. (yes, by typing on this bloggy).

my pedo/ortho essay is underway, annoying as it is to do - i would so much rather write a creative and speculative piece on how i think odontogenic bacteraemia occurs with respect to incidence, intensity, Gingival and Plaque indices, and then write a stunning conclusion on why or why not chemophylaxis is a thing to be embraced or not. but no, i have to sift through "at least 15 articles" is the by-word today, and i'm finally synthesizing bits of pieces of these articles. fior the last two days, i categorized and re-categorized these articles, made strange markings on them, and piled them up in cataclysmic order.

why am i using so many adjectives? i feel so creatively suppressed! everything we do in dentistry this year is about idealism, the perfect outcome, Classicism, if we were talking about painting and architecture - and so there's no room, this year, for improvised etching on the surfaces of our composite restorations, or very interesting fang-like arrangements of teeth (talk about personality!) in the construction of our complete dentures.

i'm also gastronomically suppressed. i couldn't think of anything i could conceivable make in my kitchen that was wonderfully savoury (i didn't feel like making the trek to loblaws), i didn't feel like getting my hands wet (they're wet all week from molding casts and drilling and washing things), and i didn't think my body would react well to another insult of really gooey, high-caloric pizza or some kind of take-out like that. i wish i could have had a poached pear (i hear the restaurant eau in toronto has a stunning, stunning poached pear) in some kind of coulis - yes, as an appetizer - and seared arctic char with steamed, buttered asparagus wrapped in puff pastry, and for dessert, hm.....a vanilla bean creme caramel, a la bloor street diner...and moscato dosti to complement. so, since i couldn't have that, and i didn't want to eat anything else - i had an egg mcmuffin this morning (homemade), and bits and pieces of this and that for lunch, i ended up haing vector cereal for dinner (how sad is that!), with a handful of raisin bran, in soy milk. i feel unfulfilled, my taste buds are atrophying, but that's ok, because absence makes the heart grow fonder. (and as a disclaimer, at least i had food to eat, so for that, i'm thankful).

a couple of things on my mind:
solitude, loneliness, the little prince, prophecy, volunteerism, the great music i'm missing at the TSO this season, the collection of teeth.
